The Tribunals Service have reported that claims accepted by employment tribunals have increased by 56% in England, Scotland and Wales this year, reaching record levels.
In the 12 months to the end of March 2010 - 236,100 cases were lodged, up from 151,000 claims in the preceding 12 months. These rises are attributed to an increase in multiple claims (those lodged simultaneously by 2 or more people), which rose by nearly 90 per cent on 2008/09 – and 'partly as a result of the changing economic climate'.
